Photo composites

Photographs blended in Photoshop into single scenes. Surreal, cinematic, and built out of pieces that were never in the same room.

A composite of a soldier in green forest light whose right eye has been replaced by a glowing machine, embers in the air around him.

This is the image half of the graphic work. Photographs cut apart and recombined in Photoshop until they read as one scene: a man sitting in lotus on the back of a whale over an empty road, a soldier whose eye has been replaced by a machine, a car on a waterfront that it was never photographed on.

The craft in a composite is not the cut. It is everything after: matching the light direction across sources that were shot hours and continents apart, getting the colour temperature to agree, and putting enough haze and grain over the join that the eye stops looking for it.
